Volunteer Opportunities Event Volunteers– Volunteers are needed for our different multicultural celebrations, fundraisings, etc. Event volunteers donate several hours of their time to help us set up, clean-up, etc. One-time commitment: 4-5 hours Interpreters/Translators– We need interpreters to help us to serve the non-English speaking Hispanic community (e.g. going with patients to medical examinations, helping parents to communicate with teachers, etc.). We also need volunteers to translate articles and other documents into Spanish/English. One-time commitment: 2-4 hours Writers– We need volunteers to help us to write grants, articles for our newsletter, media press releases, informational brochures, content for our website, etc. One-time commitment: 2-10 hours

Volunteer as Member of our Board of Directors Much of the work of Grupo Latinoamericano is done by the board of directors and its different committees. The Board of directors meets once a month to discuss upcoming events, funding, etc. Each member is also part of a committee that focuses on a specific topic. Below there’s a list of our committees, find one that compliments your interests: · Media & Public Relations– Promote our organization at public events, send press releases to the media and create written communication. · Event Planning– Help us to plan our yearly events: Cinco de Mayo Celebration, Dia de los Muertos, Christmas Latin Fiesta, and many other festivities. · Fundraising– Assist us in creating and developing ideas to raise funds for our many programs and services. · Public Service– Donate time to help people in need of transportation,English/Spanis interpretation, learning English and computer skills, etc. · Volunteer coordination– Assist with the recruitment and coordination of other volunteers. Time commitment: 1 to 2 hours per month; additional hours depending on interests.

Other Opportunities Help our editor with our monthly newsletter: Latinoaticias * Write in our monthly newsletter. * Work on lay-out or design * Find sponsors * Help us with its mailing * Update recipients records Time commitment: 2-4 hours per month ESL & Computer Literacy Teachers We need teachers for our free of charge English as a Second Language (ESL) and computer literacy classes. If you are a teacher or a student preparing to be a teacher, we would love to hear from you. Time commitment: 10-20 hours per year Volunteer in Public Service Often times, people call Grupo Latinoamericano asking for assistance with their basic needs: transportation, shopping, minor home repair, etc. We work as liaisons to match volunteers with people in need. One-time commitment: 1-4 hours If you are a seeking to complete your community service requirement or would simply like to get involved with the Latino community, Grupo Latinoamericano welcomes you!
